About Us
Our History
The “Community Chorus of North Palm Beach County” was founded in 1962 by Shirley Spitzer Anschutz with Stan Doyle as its first director. Driven by Shirley's love for music and the performing arts, membership grew and the group changed its name to “The North County Choral Society” and eventually to “The Choral Society of the Palm Beaches, Inc.”
Now proudly in our 63rd season, the Choral Society is under the esteemed direction of S. Mark Aliapoulios.
Our Mission
The Choral Society of the Palm Beaches exists to celebrate and promote the universal beauty and intrinsic value of the vocal arts for both its members and the community. It is our mission to make choral music accessible, inspiring and enriching to all through high quality live performances of diverse choral music.
Our Vision
For 63 years, the Choral Society of the Palm Beaches has embraced the vision to provide our audiences with both entertaining and meaningful encounters with the vocal arts, believing that such experiences enrich the community and add to the quality of our lives. We also see the Choral Society as a way of giving back to the young up-and-coming vocalists in our community as we support the legacy of vocal arts through our annual Young Artist Vocal Competition.
Our Values
We value the arts, especially choral music, as a means of expressing and enhancing the communication of the spoken word.
We value all forms and styles of choral music by both traditional and contemporary composers. We value the opportunity to enrich the lives of our members by their participation in The Choral Society.
We value the opportunity for our members and audiences alike to interact with the arts through our live performances.
We value the young and aspiring vocal artists in our community and are committed to supporting their musical endeavors through the Young Artist Vocal Competition.
Our Foundation
Music is good for the soul.
